5 stars (2020) 87%. 89%. 88%. The Volkswagen ID.3 is built using relatively new technology, and while it’s not the first electric car the company has made, it’s tough to give a definitive verdict on its reliability. In the 2023 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey, Volkswagen came 27th out of the 32 manufacturers ranked.
19. While it starts from well over £40,000, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV should be relatively cheap to run – especially for company car buyers with its 2% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rating. Charging the Enyaq at home should, in theory, be much cheaper than filling a traditional family SUV up with petrol – especially if you have an EV-specific

Notably, many of the top 10 most reliable cars according to our Driver Power findings are cars from Japanese manufacturers, with Toyota, Nissan, Lexus and Mazda all occupying one or more spaces in

For larger families who want an estate, it’d be the Skoda Superb Estate if you’re on a budget. If not, the E-Class. Those who want an SUV would have trouble beating the Peugeot 3008 - but the Audi Q5 drives better, the Kia Sorento will be a more reliable workhorse and the Honda CR-V is simply massive (and reliable).

But if it was driven more on mountain roads or cities then I would stay away from it. Octavias are usually more likely to be used on highways than fabias tho. I recently bought a 2016 Octavia 2.0tdi with 150.000km wich was a company car previously and therefore mainly driven on mighways and also serviced by an official Škoda/Volkswagen workshop.
It has 400Nm compared with 340Nm, so feels substantially more muscular and takes 8.5 seconds to crack 0-62mph – instead of 9.9 seconds in the 150hp. Economy is exactly the same between the diesels too – Skoda reckons these cars can achieve 49.6mpg and 151g/km of CO2 (149g/km in the 150hp).
But Audi/Volkswagen/Skoda etc are as good a bet as any. Only Toyota/Lexus are more reliable. Note that things like shock absorbers tend to be past their best by this point, and having them replaced can make a massive difference to how the car drives, doesn't cost much usually, especially aftermarket ones like Bilstein.
